Meet Cookie - Owner of Kayak in Costa Rica
Meet Cookie, a water and nature lover with over a decade of experience guiding and teaching on the rivers and wild landscapes of Costa Rica. This is home, and the rivers here are where I learned, explored, and spent years helping people build confidence on moving water.
Every paddle stroke is an opportunity to learn, to understand each person’s rhythm, and to guide not only in technique, but toward trust, balance, and connection with the natural environment.
Alongside my work here in Costa Rica, I have also spent the last two summers in the United States teaching both adults and children to kayak. This time abroad strengthened my teaching style, broadened my international experience, and deepened my commitment to safety and calm, confident progression on the water.
The Pura Vida lifestyle is not simply where I live, it is how I live. Through my passion, respect, and love for this sport, I share this spirit with every guest who joins me on the river.
This way of being has taught me to pay close attention, to know when to motivate, when to create space, and when to encourage you to go a little further, always with safety, presence, and enjoyment at the heart of every experience.
